Investments and Partners
Strateco supports, and invests in, companies that deliver environmental solutions in an ethical manner. We particularly seek to support beneficial innovations in environmental goods and services that fundamentally change existing markets or create new markets.
We can support you whether you are an organisation that takes on the status quo to reinvent the marketplace or whether you are an incumbent who needs to pre-empt potential disruption.
Identifying current opportunities for high-level innovative change presents real challenges to society.
While many examples exist outside of the environmental field (albeit with environmental ramifications) e.g, Blackberry, the i-Pod, easyJet, eBay, U-Tube, Google, unraveling of the genome etc., the emergence of such innovations within the environmental field is only just beginning (e.g the wind up radio and torch, organic supermarkets, eco-holidays, individual household power generation etc).
Strateco’s longstanding experience in predicting, pre-empting and taking advantage of the impact of environmental and cultural change has proven of great benefit to many companies – some of which we have subsequently invested in;
CRT Recycling Ltd a company which Strateco assisted with obtaining grant funding leading to the opening a modern glass production plant in North Wales in December 2007 processing over 24,000 tpa of glass sourced from old cathode ray tubes from televisions. The operation, while achieving significant savings in energy and CO2 emissions, over previous practices, is a financially successful example of a disruptive innovation.
Electrocycle Ltd (now a wholly owned subsidiary of Strateco Ltd) provides a complete waste electronics recycling solution to all sectors of industry. End of life electrical equipment is collected from customer’s premises anywhere in the UK using select local partners and delivered to audited recycling facilities. The operations are coordinated and managed using a specially designed bespoke IT system. Strateco established the company in 2007, registered its Waste Carriers and Brokers License and set up its EMS (Environmental Management System) which was successfully granted ISO14001 certification.
